NAVAL CONTRACTS PASS CITY BY

Another week and another multi million dollar marine contract has passed Newcastle by.
While it’s a nice place to visit, HMAS Newcastle and her sister Anzac class frigates won’t be back any time soon to have work done.
The Federal government today announced the shortlist for companies vying for a five year, $300-million maintenance contract, but Newcastle’s Forgacs wasn’t included.
Only last week, another $350 million contract to build new customs vessels went to Western Australia.
Forgacs has its sights set on more module work for the Navy’s new air warfare destroyers.
