COUNCIL FEES WAIVED TO HELP BUSHFIRE VICTIMS REBUILD

Bushfire-affected residents in the Richmond Valley Council area will have their development assessment fees waived when they begin the daunting task of rebuilding.

Council has approved the new policy which could save those impacted by the Busbys Flat and Myall Creek Road fires up to $7,000.

“I think it’s a nice little Christmas present for people who want to rebuild, it’s been a really tough three months for the Richmond valley so these sorts of things are really important.”

Pending public consultation, the policy will be in place for two years.
