Brett Button pleads guilty over Hunter bus crash

Bus driver Brett Button has admitted to causing the deadly crash which claimed the lives of 10 wedding guests in the Hunter last year, with 25 people also injured.

The 59-year-old faced court in Newcastle on 89 charges this morning, pleading guilty to 10 counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, while in a major development – 10 charges of manslaughter were withdrawn.

His bail was immediately revoked and he was taken into custody.

Button was driving a coach in June last year when it hit a guard rail and flipped at Greta with 35 wedding guests onboard.

He was committed for sentence, with his case to be heard in the District Court later this month.
