Two rescued after gyrocopter crashes into Lake Macquarie

Two people have been rescued after a gyrocopter crashed off the NSW coast.
The aircraft, which has been described by as Fire and Rescue NSW as “amphibious” was trying to take off when it overturned, 500m offshore at Marmong Point in Lake Macquarie.
The pilot and passenger managed to scramble onto nearby boats and were not hurt.
Fire and Rescue NSW sent eight trucks to the scene.
The aircraft has been towed to a local marina after booms were set up to handle any fuel leaks.
NSW Police is investigating.
