More than a week after a potentially carcinogenic plume rained down over the Newcastle suburb of Stockton, officials from Orica apologised to residents at a public meeting last night.
About 300 people filled a marquee to hear Orica general manager James Bonner apologise for his company’s handling of the incident.
The release of the toxic chemical hexavalent chromium occured on the evening of Monday the 8th August..residents weren’t notified until late Thursday the 11th.
