CENTRAL COAST LEFT CALLING FOR SHARK PROTECTION MEASURES

Wyong Councillor, Greg Best, says he’s disappointed the region won’t immediately see any of the state government’s shark-safety measures.
Mike Baird says a string of measures, including eco-barriers, will be rolled out on the Far North Coast from the middle of next month.
“Towoon Bay is nature’s gift for a natural trial point for the eco-barrier. There is no better geological opportunity to put that device in than here on the Central Coast.”
Following November’s shark summit, Council will host a community forum on the issue early next year.
“We need to be sensible and balanced around this. But the balance is those attacks up north could have easily happened here on the Central Coast.”
