A man will face court on the Central Coast after he allegedly left a young boy unattended in a car for 40 minutes during hot weather.
Events began when emergency services were called to the Toukley Aquatic Centre car park yesterday after a member of the public found a 13-month-old boy alone in a Peugeot 4WD.
Police say they found the car unlocked, with the boy strapped in a child seat.
The front passenger window of the car was left slightly ajar, with all doors closed and the engine turned off.
There was no air-conditioning and the temperature was 28 degrees.
Paramedics found the boy red and sweating, but he was otherwise uninjured.
Police will allege the boy was left alone in the vehicle for 40 minutes while the father was inside the swimming complex.
He has been issued with a future court attendance notice for leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle, causing emotional distress.
He is expected to appear in court next month.
The Department of Family and Community Services were also notified of the incident.
Police are reminding people that it is unsafe in any circumstances to leave a child unattended in a vehicle.
