Three people were rescued off Cape Byron overnight after their 18 meter vessel lost power around 7pm.
Marine rescue volunteers successfully located the boat, then had the tough task of towing the vessel 55 kilometres to shore.
The rescue operation took around 9 hours to complete, wrapping up at 5.30 this morning.
