Community group Keerrong Gas Squad is praising Lismore Council’s decision to refuse Metgasco’s seismic rock testing application for Rock Valley.
The landmark move means the coal seam gas company will have to take a legal avenue to have the matter overturned.
“It’s an example that local council’s have the courage to stand up to a mining company.”
Apart from locking the gate on Rock Valley, council is also supporting a moratorium on all coal seam gas activities on shire land.
