FAR NORTH COAST NBN NEWS UPDATE

Water at a North Lakes-Ballina canal will be tested after a small fish kill yesterday.

Authorities suspect it was caused by low oxygen levels in the water.

And while it’s a common occurance at that site, local fishermen are worried it’s a sign of a bigger kill to come.

The Animal Welfare League will scrap it’s adoption fees in order to find a home for two 10-month-old Vietnamese pot belly pigs.

They’re hoping not to seperate the porky pair as they are twins and have been living on the same farm since birth.

Federal Minister for Regional Australia and Local Government Simon Crean fronted a forum on carbon pricing in Lismore today.

And in sport, Mullumbimby high school is vying for a spot in the Rugby League Schoolboy’s University Shield grandfinal today.

They take on Bathurst at home in the semi finals.
