PUBLIC TO DECIDE THE FUTURE OF MEMORIAL DRIVE

More parking? Or more green space? That’s the question MidCoast Council is asking the community, to help determine the future of Forster’s iconic Memorial Drive area.
Council has proposed two designs for the community to vote on: one that maintains most parking but will see no new green space, and the other which would increase green space but reduce parking.
“With the possibility of loss of car spaces, council acquired a block of land in Wallis Street, which is around 100 metres from Memorial Drive and on that we’ve constructed 65 parking spaces to compensate for any loss on the foreshore,” MidCoast Council says.
The public has until September 7 to vote for either alternative.
