SEASON OVER MAITLAND AFTER DEFEAT AT HANDS OF CESSNOCK

In Newcastle Rugby League, the season is over for Maitland after losing to Cessnock in this afternoon’s elimination final.

In the do or die clash at Maitland Sportsground, the Goannas made an early breakthrough.

Brendan Hlad going solo and finding the try line.

Two penalties helped the Goannas to a 10-nil lead at half time.

Joe Woodbury extended Cessnock’s lead straight after the break.

The Pickers mounted a comeback with two quick tries but they fell four points short.

Cessnock will play the loser of tomorrow’s clash between Souths and Central for a spot in the decider.
