Three teens charged following Lake Macquarie pursuit
Three teenagers will appear in court today charged following an alleged pursuit at Lake Macquarie overnight.
About 11pm Sunday November 5, officers from Lake Macquarie Police District were patrolling the Pacific Highway at Belmont when they attempted to stop a Kia Sorrento, that had been reported stolen.
When the Kia allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated; however, was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
Just after midnight, police located the Kia on Cary Street, Toronto, and attempted to stop the vehicle again.
A pursuit was initiated, continuing to Nelson Street, Toronto, where three people got out and attempted to flee on foot.
Following a search of the area, three teens – two boys, aged 13 and 15, and 16-year-old girl – were arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station.
They were all charged with larceny, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company – steal, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and incite to the commission of crimes.
Additionally, the 13-year-old was also charged with face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.
All three were refused bail to appear before a children’s court today.
