Emergency services called after single-vehicle crash
About 7.50am today, emergency services were called to Munibung Road, Cardiff, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
At the scene, police were told that a sedan had crashed into a power pole between Pendlebury Road and Torrens Avenue.
The driver and passenger – both men believed to be aged in their 30s – were freed by Fire and Rescue NSW.
The men were assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene which will be examined by the Crash Investigation Unit.

Munibung Road remains closed between Pendlebury Road and Torrens Avenue. Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
