Port Macquarie firefighters could have a new station by June next year.
Construction on the Central Road site is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
The $3.9-million fire station will be located within the emergency services precinct, which already houses The Ambulance Service of New South Wales and the State Emergency Service.
The station will have state-of-the-art facilities, office space and a larger storage area.
