VANDALS DESTROY COMMUNITY GARDEN

Police and staff of Lismore’s Carthage’s Community Care are appealing for information after vandals destroyed the respite facility’s community garden.
“Most of the plants had been pulled out of the garden the terracotta pots had been smashed our garden shed had been smashed and broken into it was completely vandalised” said Jodi Scott, from Carthage’s Community Care.
The garden was part of a project called “Blooms that Bond” – bringing students and aged care residents together.
“This took a long time for our students and our clients to actually establish and maintain maybe if they’d had a bit more of an understanding of what the project was about this might not have happened. I would rather instead of punish people actually learn what the project was about and create some opportunities for them as well.”
