A 14-year-old from East Ballina is one of New South Wales’ top 10 student volunteers.
Aleesha Cockfield spent the year fundraising, planting trees and teaching seniors how to use the internet, all while keeping up with her schoolwork.
“And I’m on the junior chamber of commerce. We did a project to teach business how to advertise using Facebook.”
Aleesha was one of almost 6,000 students who clocked up more than 110,000 volunteering hours.
“She’s an amazing young lady who’s really gone out of her way to give something back to the community.”
