Grafton will be the first town to host the parliamentary committee heading up the New South Wales Government’s corrective services inquiry when it hits the road.
30 of the 34 submissions made public by Macquarie Street have come from the Clarence region
Most expressed anger and disappointment over the way the downsizing of Grafton Gaol was handled, with claims there was little planning or transparency surrounding the decision to cut staff and and move prisoners from the facility.
The first public hearing is expected to meet in Sydney next month.
