Armidale residents have been hit with their first rate notice for the 2015/16 financial year and it’s left some in disbelief.
Last month council decided to move to a base rate system, rather than continue with the minimum rate system.
This has seen an increase of up to 300 per cent in prices for some rural landholders and small business owners.
The change was made in a bid to make the assessment process fairer.
