Competition in the junior State Clay Court Championships got underway in Sawtell today.
The event, which has a silver rating with National Ranking Points on offer, has attracted the best junior players from across the eastern states.
The competition includes players in the under-10s through to under-18s.
The clay court tournament is a rarity, with the number of clay surfaces diminishing in recent years, many being replaced with synthetic courts.
More than 200 juniors are taking part in the four day event, which concludes on Monday.
