$156k worth of drugs seized in vehicle stop
Two men have been charged with commercial drug supply offences.
Two men have been charged with commercial drug supply offences following a vehicle stop near Newcastle yesterday September 12th.
Officers were patrolling the Mayfield West around 2:30pm when they topped a Range Rover Evoque on Morris Street and spoke to the driver, a 29-year-old man and his 27-year-old male passenger.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located and seized methamphetamine with an estimated potential street value of $156,000.
Both men were arrested at the scene before being taken to Waratah Police Station to assist police with their inquiries.
A short time later, a search warrant was executed at a property on Morris Street, Mayfield, where police allegedly located and seized prohibited drugs and mobile phones.
At the conclusion of the search warrant, the two men were each charged with supply prohibited drug equal to or more than a commercial quantity.
They appeared before Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday 13 September 2023), where they were formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday 8 November 2023.
