North West teacher sacked over sexual misconduct claims
NBN News understands the Department of Education has found there was ‘sufficient evidence’ to support that Annabel Doust, while employed by a school, crossed professional boundaries with Dean Gray who was 17 at the time.
She sent him a friend request on Facebook, began an inappropriate conversation and then engaged in a sexual relationship with Dean.
The teacher has now been dismissed.
This follows an NBN News report that revealed the scandalous messages that were exchanged… as well as calls by Dean’s parents, Rob and Cherrina, for more transparency in the department’s investigation which began in 20-22.
Dean sadly died in an unrelated incident in 2021.
No police charges have ever been laid against Ms Doust and she is not facing any criminal charges. She has been contacted for comment.
Of this decision, Rob and Cherrina Gray have told NBN News that this has been hell for the family, that they feel overwhelmed and that it’s a victory for Dean.
