The mother of a young man killed in a quarry accident at Karuah this week, has paid tribute to her son.
25-year-old Ryan Messenger passed away on Tuesday, when an excavator he was working in at Hunter Quarries rolled down an embankment.
In a statement, his mother Janelle Russell spoke of her heartache of saying goodbye to her first born son.
“My heart will take a long time, if at all it does, to mend from the sudden passing of Ryan.”
She described him as a loveable larrakin who was the “life of the room – always the class clown” and who loved his wife, Alexandra, dearly.
“Ryan loved life to the fullest but loved his wife Alexandra more! They married in February this year, had built a home together and should have had a long loving life with each other. The kind of love they have will live on forever,” she said.
Mrs Russell also thanked Hunter Quarries for its support during the past few days and says she doesn’t personally hold them responsible for her son’s death.
“Hunter Quarries is not, from my point of view, at fault. This is a very sad accident that has taken place and is just that – an accident – and nothing more.”
