SILK HOTEL LICENCEE DISQUALIFIED FOR 10 YEARS

The Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority has upheld its decision to disqualify the licensee of Newcastle’s Silk Hotel for 10 years.
Silk Hotels Newcastle Pty Ltd was banned from holding a licence from February 3, following a police complaint.
The Authority found the licencee and the company’s sole director, Mr Vasilis Moshos, had been convicted of offences under the Liquor Act, failed to comply with the licence conditions and had engaged in conduct likely to encourage the abuse of alcohol.
The business has recently changed hands and an application to transfer the licence is being considered.
