EVENING UPDATE

Premier Mike Baird visited flood affected towns in the Hunter Valley today, where thousands of people are still cut off by floodwater.

Police have identified the elderly woman who was swept to her death in floodwaters in Maitland as 86-year-old Anne Jarmain.

Residents in Cessnock have told how they fled rising flood waters, a day after flash flooding turned the main street into a river.

And there’s been a special service in Newcastle tonight, the the lighting of a new ANZAC memorial flame at Nobbys beach.

It will be the centrepiece of Saturday’s Dawn Service.

  1. I was trying to look up the clip that NBN did on the residents of Hinton. My Daughter Chloe was interviewed. She is living in Hinton and has been stuck out there without any power or hot water. I have managed to get some food hampers to her and her puppies. I was hoping that you would be able to send me the link to the interview as I was not able to catch the news. I would really love for her to be able to see it. She is very very low after so many days away from family.
