MAN DIES AFTER BREAK AND ENTER IN HAMILTON

A man has died following a break-in at a home in Newcastle.
Around 3:30am on Saturday, police responded to reports of a fight at a house on Cleary Street at Hamilton.
According to investigators, a 34-year-old had broken into the home but was confronted by two other men.
An altercation broke out and the intruder was detained.
The 34-year-old lost consciousness after police arrived.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition, but died this morning when his life support was switched off.
A 33-year-old man has been charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.
Investigations continue.
