Man left with serious burns after factory fire
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews on the state’s Mid North Coast have extinguished a factory fire, which has left a man with serious burns.
Sixteen FRNSW firefighters and four fire trucks were called to the leather goods and timberworks business on Jindalee Road, Port Macquarie, around 1:40pm.
Flames and smoke were seen pouring from the building, while a man, aged in his 30’s, sustained significant burns to his arms and legs.
FRNSW crews gave him initial emergency medical treatment before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and transported him to hospital.
Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus and using thermal imaging cameras, entered the building and located the seat of the fire.
They managed to stop the fire from spreading to neighbouring units.
With the fire now out, FRNSW is assisting NSW Police and SafeWork NSW in determining how the fire started.
The cause is not being treated as suspicious.
