2023 Taree Summer Regatta off to a flying start

The annual Taree Summer rowing regatta is off to a flying start.

Competitors in D grade events battled hard on the Manning River in 1 kilometre heats this afternoon.

Today’s races for novice rowers – the host club says they’ll get the chance to watch elite competitors this weekend.

“Such a steep learning curve for beginners rowing is a very technical sport and you don’t really become proficient at it for a good 12 to 18 months so they’re going to be watching looking and observing,” Manning River Rowing Club’s Murray Doust said.

The action gets underway at 8am tomorrow – with the feature mixed eights race at 12.45.
