Truck driver escapes injury after truck carrying six tonnes of aerosols explodes on highway

A truck driver has had a lucky escape on the far north coast – making it to safety as his semi-trailer burst into flames on the Pacific Highway.

The drama unfolded at Pimlico, south of Ballina late last night… the rig’s load of SIX tonnes of aerosol spray cans, causing explosions and starting spot fires.

Firefighters battled the blaze for more than three hours… while the motorway was reduced to one northbound lane.
