PARTHENIUM WEED WARNING FOR TWEED SHIRE

In a first for the Northern Rivers, the Department of Primary Industries is using a detector dog to uncover the invasive parthenium weed near Murwillumbah.
Last October, the weed – which can severely impact human and livestock health – was found on a rural property in the Tweed Shire.
Today’s search was conducted in the Palmvale area.
Suspected sightings of the weed should be reported to local council or the New South Wales Biosecurity Helpline on 1800 680 244.
