Greater Taree City Council will host the New South Wales Hockey Age Championships, next year.
The three-year deal is the result of a $30,000 marketing audit done by council to encourage major sporting events to the area.
The event is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy and tourism industry.
Council is also in the running to host two major Little Athletics competitions.
