VOLUNTEER YOUTH WORKER TO RE-APPEAR IN COURT

A volunteer youth worker will re-appear in court today over the alleged sexual touching of a young boy near Newcastle.
In December last year, police received reports that an eight-year-old boy had been sexually touched by a man at a vacation care program at a youth club in Broadmeadow.
The State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation, and police attended a home in Lambton, where they arrested a 57-year-old man.
The man was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with three counts of sexually touching a child under 10 years.
The man appeared at Newcastle Local Court on December 23, 2020, where he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear at the same court today.
Investigations are continuing.
