A full capacity crowd saw the Newcastle Northstars over-come their slow start to defeat the Sydney Bears 7-4 Saturday night at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. The win cemented their position on the top of the ladder and secured their berth in the finals.

The Northstars found their mojo in the second period putting on 4 goals courtesy of Robert Malloy, Dash Quartarolo, Daniel Berno and Francis Drolet.

The final period produced scoring blitz with 3 goals a piece but the Northstars were too strong for the Sydney team.
