MAGGOTS DISCOVERED IN MOUTH OF NURSING HOME RESIDENT

A Port Stephens woman, whose mother was found with maggots in her mouth at a Raymond Terrace nursing home, has taken her concerns to the Health Complaints Commission.
Jayne Carter’s mother Shirley, who suffered dementia, died last October at the Opal Raymond Terrace Gardens home… a day after the maggot discovery.
Ms Carter claims management asked her not to talk about the incident.
Opal admits guidelines hadn’t been followed, and it’s apologised to the family, sacked two senior managers, and stepped up staff training.
