Seven protesters have been arrested at Whitehaven Coal’s Maules Creek mine after blocking the site’s entrance and halting work for several hours.
Two people were involved in a ‘tree sit’, suspended high in the forest’s canopies to prevent clearing activity.
It’s part of a six-day protest called ‘Bat Attack’, which has seen 300 people from around the country defend the Leard State Forest.
The group is calling on Premier Mike Baird to implement mining approval reforms in the lead up to the state election.
