SOLDIERS COMMEMORATED IN LEAD UP TO ANZAC DAY

To commemorate Gunnedah’s 163 fallen soldiers of World War One, the Red Cross and RSL branches are hosting daily services at its memorial.
Nine wreaths will be laid each day, for 18 days, with the final one to be placed on ANZAC Day.
“For the younger generation coming through so that they also understand what a lot of people did to allow us to live in a country as free as Australia.”
It’s also an opportunity to celebrate another milestone in the town.
“It’s the Gunnedah Red Cross branch’s centenary this year, we started last year it was the Australian Red Cross centenary last year but this year it’s ours and so this is also another way that we can help celebrate the centenary in Gunnedah.”
