19-YEAR-OLD MAN CHARGED AFTER WIELDING KNIFE DURING FIGHT AT TWEED HEADS

A man has been charged, after allegedly wielding a knife during a physical altercation in Tweed Heads.

It’s understood a fight broke out outside a licensed premises on Wharf Street shortly after midnight on Friday.

A man, who tried to intervene, suffered knife wounds to his hand which required surgery.

A 21-year-old man fled the scene and was later located by Police.

He’s been refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on June 6.
