YANCOAL TO CUT 60 MINING JOBS

Chinese-owned company Yancoal has confirmed 60 permanent jobs will be lost from two of its open-cut operations near Gloucester at the end of this month.
Stratford Coal will close its Roseville pit operations, while Duralie Coal will reduce to a six-day working roster.
General manager of the mines, Doug Gordon, says the “decision was not made lightly, however in the current economic environment of high operating costs and low commodity prices, this action is necessary.”
