FAR NORTH COAST DRINK DRIVING CRACKDOWN

Police officers in the Tweed-Byron district
have been out on the roads in large numbers for Operation Fume.
25 drink drivers were caught between Tweed Heads and Byron Bay over the weekend.
“It’s considerable, it’s disappointing to see how many people are still drinking and driving on our roads, particularly this time of year leading into Christmas and New Year.” said Far North Coast Traffic Insp. David Vandergriend.
Tweed/Byron Police District is typically one of the highest in the state for drink driving, so far there’s been over 550 detected this year.
