DENMAN AND SINGLETON PREPARING FOR MAJOR FLOODING
Denman is the latest town to experience flooding in the Hunter with the Hunter River expected to peak there around 1:00pm on Saturday.
The Golden Highway just outside the town is now closed due to flooding.
Singleton is also preparing for potentially major flooding in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Flood waters from the Upper Hunter will combine with large inflows from the Goulburn River and Wybong Creek.
The Hunter River has already exceeded 10 metres and may reach 13 by morning.
Thankfully the water level at Muswellbrook peaked late last night and is now falling.
Local SES crews on Friday night were tasked with rescuing a lady and her dog just before 11pm.
The lady and her pup found themselves caught on a causeway as they were trying to evacuate from their flooded home.
Downriver, the Bureau of Meterology is also warning residents at Maitland the Hunter River is expected to reach the moderate flood level on Monday morning.
