LISMORE COUNCIL REFUSES METGASCO EXPLORATION APPLICATION

Council has refused an application from Metgasco to perform siesmic rock testing in Rock Valley, while also supporting a moratorium on any coal seam gas activies on council owned or administered land.

However, the move won’t necessarily stop the gas giant, as council has no legislative capacity to prevent exploration works.

It means Metgasco could go to court to have the decision overturned.

Council is seeking a second legal opinion on it’s rights.
