MAN HOSPITALISED AFTER UNIT FIRE AT CHARLESTOWN
Police are investigating a large unit fire at Charlestown in Newcastle early this morning.
Just after 1am, fire crews were called to a subdivided property on Wakal Street.
More than 20 firefighters saved three homes from destruction.
Firefighters also gave medical assistance to two men suffering burns.
One of the men was taken to hospital by Ambulance.
Charlestown Superintendent Scott Dodson said the outcome could have been a lot worse.
“This is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.”
