LANDHOLDERS: WATCH OUT FOR ST JOHN’S WORT AS SEASON APPROACHES
North West landowners are being urged to keep an eye out for the invasive weed, St John’s Wort.
The plant is now in the early stages of flowering, with some up to a metre tall already.
Each plant can produce 30,000 seeds per year – which are spread by animals and can infest farmland.
If eaten by livestock, the weed makes animals sensitive to sunlight – which can lead to poor health.
