HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN GWYDIR RIVER IDENTIFIED AS MISSING MAN

Police have confirmed that remains found near Moree are those of a missing Aboriginal man.

Divers located the remains of Gordon Copeland in the Gwydir River last week, about 500 metres from where he was last seen alive in July.

Police claim the 22-year-old ran from them, when they tried to speak to him about a speeding car.

His death will be examined by the coroner.
