Protestors have pleaded with Newcastle Council to save city parks and trees, as the region prepares to host a Supercars round in November.
Opponents say Foreshore Park will never be the same, when trees and shrubs are removed to make way for the race track.
It follows a proposal released by Newcastle Council, detailing the removal of 30 shade trees and 150 shrubs, before replacing them with 230 new plantings.
The state government says the event will boost the region’s economy over the next five years.
