A horse has escaped serious injury after being rescued from a canal in Port Stephens.
It’s believed the mare, which was stuck in a waterway on Port Stephens Drive at Nelson Bay, had been unable to get out all night before Fire and Rescue NSW crews came to its rescue late this morning.
Under the supervision of a vet, fire fighters from Port Stephens and New Lambton used a harness to pull the horse up the side of the canal.
The horse, named Daisy, is now being checked over by the vet, but appears to be unharmed.
