MORE THAN 1000 COVID-19 CASES NOW RECORDED IN HUNTER NEW ENGLAND LHD
65 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Hunter, including the death of a Lake Macquarie man in his 80’s who had underlying health conditions.
1053 cases have now been recorded in the health district since August 5.
26 of the new cases were infectious in the community, and 40 are linked to known cases or clusters.
The region accounted for almost eight percent of today’s 813 cases.
Hunter New England Health are caring for 20 people in hospital and one in ICU.
Fragments of the virus have been detected in the sewage at Dungog, Karuah and South Grafton.
Everyone in those areas is urged to look out for symptoms.
