LOCAL LAND SERVICES SURVEYING FALL ARMYWORM SITUATION

Growers in the New England, North West are being urged to keep an eye out for fall armyworms after some were spotted at Croppa Creek near Moree.
North West Local Land Services says there’s no cause for alarm yet, but to contact the Department of Industry and Environment if they come across one of the insects.
Surveillance and trapping programs have been in place since 2020.
The insects have the capability to decimate crops – particularly maize, sorghum and sweet corn.
