TEEN CHARGED OVER FATAL STABBING IN LAKE MACQUARIE

A teenage boy has died after he was found stabbed in the chest, along with another teen, at a home in Lake Macquarie.

Emergency services were called to the house at Swansea at around 8:20pm on Friday, where they found two 16-year-olds seriously injured with stab wounds to the chest.

Paramedics worked on one of the boys, but he later died at the scene.

The other teen was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition and underwent surgery.

Police began searching the area and found a 16-year-old boy in the backyard of a home on the same street around an hour later.

He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he has since been charged with murder, and attempted murder.

He’s due to appear in a children’s court today.

Police will allege in court that the boy stabbed the other boys following a verbal argument outside the property.

A crime scene has been established at the Swansea home and inquiries continue.

Anyone with information about the incident, or dashcam or CCTV from the area is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
