DRIVER CHARGED OVER CENTRAL COAST CYCLIST’S DEATH
The driver of a car, which allegedly hit and killed a cyclist on the Central Coast, has now been charged.
Police say the cyclist was riding along Empire Bay Drive in Kincumber on Friday afternoon when he was hit by a passing car.
Police were called around 2:30pm and began CPR on the 68-year-old cyclist before paramedics arrived and took over.
Unfortunately, he died at the scene.
The 29-year-old driver of a Holden Commodore, who wasn’t injured in the crash, was taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
He was then arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station.
Following an investigation by police, the driver was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).
The Wyoming man was granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court in December.
